  • Michael Lau x Nike Air Crazy Force 1 “Psychiatric Ward”

Michael Lau and Nike have collaborated together to create the “Psychiatric Ward”. This is the Nike Air Crazy Force 1 sneaker and toy. The shoe uses the Air Force 1 comes as a quilted upper. It has some laser customizations. The quilted lattice is special as at joint of every square, there is an extra design, like a lock, at the joint.

The white shoe lace leads the way up to the tip of the tongue, which shows a number in gold colored paint. That is supposed to be the number of the psychiatric ward. The heel of the shoe has some stencilled lines to indicate the counting of days. Supposedly, in a psychiatric ward or prison, where there are no calendars, the inmates used the bunches of five lines to count away the days. The white midsole and outsole complete the look of the shoe.

The toy that comes with the shoe is a statue of a psychiatric ward patient. The statue has cunning eyes, seemingly trying to cook up a scheme to get free of the strait jacket. The toy comes in white and an extra color black for its hair. This Michael Lau & Nike Air Crazy Force One Pack will be released during the weekend of November 22-23.

  • Mickey Vampire Converse All Stars
By on November 22nd, 2008 | No Comments Comments

HelloDesign turned an off-white pair of Converse All Stars into a fun twist on Mickey Mouse. Mickey’s 80th birthday has recently passed and HelloDesign seems to have taken on the innocent image of the cartoon character with these shoes. I found these photos at HelloDesign’s Customsnkr.com blog linked here.

The right shoe has an image of Mickey Mouse smiling with pointy vampire teeth. The look in Mickey’s eyes portends more mischief than fun but HelloDesign does a good job of playing with the character without going over the edge. The interior of the left shoe features the words Walk Disney in the familiar cursive font of Walt Disney.

While the blank canvas of the Converse All Stars is an easy mark for custom artists, HelloDesign didn’t waste space with abstract designs and bright colors. The Mickey Vampire Converse All Stars are fairly simple but the designer’s irreverent take on an iconic image is appreciated.

    here.

Zach Randolph, of the New York Knicks, has a new shoe designed for him. The shoe has a blue patent leather for the toe box and heel. The toe box extends up to form the tongue of the shoe. The toe box and tongue have perforations in neat rows. This is a unique feature that is not commonly found in other shoes. The first pair of shoe lace holes has a small, neat looking lace lock.

The midsection of the shoe is black leather with the silhouette of the skyscraper skyline of New York. The Nike swoosh is blue and outlined in orange. The orange highlights brighten the shoe as can be most obviously seen with the midsole. The heel has black and blue leather segments. Zach Randolph’s nickname, Z-Bo, is embroidered in white thread on the blue leather near the bottom of the heel. At the back tab, Nike is embossed in orange lines into the blue leather.

This edition of Zach Randolph PEs was released on Nov. 18, at Footlocker’s House of Hoops in New York. Each pair sells for $130. It is a great looking shoe.
