    Nike Air Yeezy 2

Are you still sulking because you’ll never get your hands on a pair of Air Yeezy 3s? And no, it’s not because you didn’t get in line soon enough. It’s because the partnership between Kanye West and Nike has officially come to an end. Yeah. We’re kinda bummed too. But, Kanye will be teaming up with another sneaker giant – adidas. At least we got that so-called Yeezi – a full clothing line – to look forward to. Still, it probably won’t be the same. Sigh. It was fun while lasted – like camping out in line only to be denied and forced to drop thousands of dollars for a pair.

So, in remembrance of the end of the Nike and Ye relationship, here are 10 things you didn’t know about the legendary and hyped Nike Air Yeezy.

    10. Kanye claimed during the release of the Yeezy II that he had been designing Nikes in a sketch pad since the fourth grade.

    9. A pair of Air Yeezy IIs were sold on eBay for an outstanding $90,300 on June 6, 2012.

    8. The deal with The Swoosh ‘allowed’ Kanye to design a pair of sneakers every two years. However, there were 3 years between the OG and Yeezy II, so many believe Yeezy III would have dropped in 2015.

    7. The sides of the Air Yeezy II were covered with “hand skived anaconda textured leather quarter panels.”

    6. The Air Yeezy was released in the following colors: Black/Fuschia, Zen Gray/Orange, and the popular Net/Net. All three colorways glow in the dark, by the way. Yeezy II colorways were: Wolf Grey / Pure Platinum and Black / Black / Solar Red. Samples were: Black/White, Purple, ‘Cement’, ‘Blackout’ and the elusive ‘Red October’.

    5. The style for the Air Yeezy II was inspired by late ’80s basketball sneakers, the Nike Air Tech Challenge II tennis shoe and the “iconic Nike Cross Training silhouettes.”

    4. The sole most known for being on the Air Jordan 3 was implemented on the Air Yeezy. Kanye and designer Mark Smith paid tribute to Tinker Hatfield – designer of the AJ3 – with a customized pair of Air Yeezy’s for the iconic Air Jordan designer.

    3. It’s been said that:”Fit was essential to the design with the goal to make the shoe slimmer than the original by tailoring it to Kanye West’s foot.”

    2. The Air Yeezy was released on April 6, 2009 with a retail price of $225 and limited to 3,000 pairs. The Air Yeezy II dropped on June 9, 2012 with only 500 pairs in each color.

    1. This was Nike’s first-ever full collaboration with a non-athlete. However, Yeezy had previously worked with Nike with the Kanye West x Nike Air 180 back in 2006.
