J.Crew drops yet another New Balance 1400 exclusive, this time in “Baywood Green”; it is the regular suede and mesh affair from New Balance. You get grey suede on the upper with baywood green on the mesh. White appears on the laces and midsole. The kicks rest on the trademark New Balance thread pattern.

The NB 1400 appeared in 1994 and has since then been the sneaker of choice for many. These sneakers are available only with J.Crew–and the crew has done a good job with these kicks, working on the mesh area and of course, the color combination. The 1400s have for a long time been available only in Japan; their appearance in the U.S is a recent affair. This makes this exclusive release all the more special.

Take a look at the images, $150 gets you these kicks.

Presenting forthwith images from the “Milano” collection of the Nike Air Max Hometurf Series. Four sneakers have gone into the making of this tribute to Milan. These are Nike Air Max 1, Nike Air Max 90, Nike Air Max 97, and Nike Air Max 97 2013. Milan, as you know, is for many the high temple of high fashion. Take a look at the images. Do you detect a tribute to Italian design here? BTW, the Air Max 97 is not pictured here.

So we are basically looking at three sneakers from the quartet. The other two cities chosen are the usual culprits, Paris and London. So this series has an impressive twelve sneakers to showcase. Beiges and greys have been paired with brighter tones to create an effective contrast. Suede has been used on two of the sneakers, viz AM1 and AM90, whereas the AM97 sports Hyperfuse on the upper.

The Nike Solarsoft Rache Woven Premium – Stone / Black is your regular comfortable casual slip-on with a Nike twist. We’re not complaining. Leather and mesh are woven together on the upper to give us a lightweight construction that actually looks lightweight. The back section has elastic bands to ensure a good fit and, of course, contributes to a further reduction in weight.

The fabric inner helps in sweat absorption. A pull heel tab, a thick white rubber sole, and Solarsoft base round up the features on these sneakers. These moccasins are a part of the “Year of the Snake” pack that also includes Solarsoft Moccasin Wovens. The Rache features a subtle snake pattern detailing on the upper.

The CONCEPTS x Vans Syndicate Sk8-Hi – “Combat Zone” is due for release on March 30th. And by the looks of it, this Concept’s working on the Vans Sk8-Hi is an exercise in presenting a decadent experience. Of course, it is going to be comfortable and worth your money. The appearance is kind of fitting because this isn’t the combat zone that one would envisage on hearing the phrase. This particular “Combat Zone” refers to the area in Boston that gained notoriety in the 60s for prostitution and crime. Soldiers in uniform frequented this place and hence the name “Combat Zone”.

Okay, now that we have had a stimulating lesson in history, let us get back to the sneakers. Premium pig suede with laser etchings along the quarter panels make up the upper. The lining is of pink satin. The Concepts logo appears on the heel. And in case you’re wondering where the signature Vans checkerboard pattern has disappeared, it has gone to the undersole, beneath a translucent waffle sole.
