  • Kicks On Court: Black Mamba Brings Kobe VII Elite PE to Mile-High City
By on May 5th, 2012 | No Comments Comments

Should we expect to see Nike Zoom Kobe VII Elite PEs in the Lakers’ odd-numbered games throughout the NBA Playoffs? If you recall, Kobe Bryant wore a never-before-seen Kobe VII Elite PE in Game 1 of the Nuggets vs. Lakers series but switched to a new Nike Zoom Kobe VII PE in Game 2. In last night’s Game 3 loss to the Nuggets, our Kicks On Court column noticed Bryant switching back to a player exclusive version of the Kobe VII Elite. This particular pair is very similar to the “Away” version that released last weekend, but it has a few minor differences such as the white-colored sections on the outsole and inner liner. Kobe also opted for the ‘Attack Strong’ insert once again. View these kicks plus more, worn by Tracy McGrady, Rajon Rondo, Carlos Boozer and others, below.

  • My 5: Dahntay Jones’ Sneaker Rotation
By on May 4th, 2012 | No Comments Comments

On the court, Indiana Pacers guard Dahntay Jones is an avid fan of the Kobe System, as he stated in this past weekend’s Kicks On Court Weekly Recap. Yet, as we’ve seen in previous NBA basketball player’s My 5 rotations, the shoes worn on court are not necessarily deemed as favorites off of the court. Dahntay excludes Kobes from his rotation off of the court, but he still has a few beloved signature shoes and a rendition of a timeless basketball silhouette. Check out Dahntay Jones’ five-sneaker rotation to see what he wears leisurely.

Dahntay Jones: “This shoe is universal. I have every color of the 95s. I like them all, but I like the classic grey and green pair more than anything.”

  • Celebrity Rewind: The Beastie Boys Rock adidas Campus & Conductors in “No Sleep Till Brooklyn”
By on May 4th, 2012 | No Comments Comments

Today, the world lost a true original. Adam Yauch, better known as MCA of the Beastie Boys, passed away. His time on the earth was short, but his impact on the hip-hop culture was huge. A founding member of the New York trio, the group broke the rules of rap before they were written. In a genre historically known as a young man’s game, the Beasties would drop #1 albums in three different decades. While current artists still catch flak for crossover attempts, they’d take home Grammys in Rap, Alternative, and Pop categories. Sell out? Never. The band big enough to tour the continent with Madonna was good enough to follow it up with a Five-Mic album. Such an achievement points to feet firmly planted in hip-hop, and such feet were laced in adidas.

In 1987’s video for “No Sleep Till Brooklyn”, the Boys stay in the Stripes. MCA and Mike D can be seen wearing the White/Grey and “Olympic” colorways of the Conductor Hi, while Ad-Rock dons the navy suede Campus. RIP MCA and big ups to the Beasties.
