Can there ever be enough sneakers for a cause? Simply put: No. There are few greater things than seeing a footwear brand lend its help. Fresh off the September sensation, Michael J. Fox-benefiting Nike MAG auctions, we find ourselves on the first day of October, National Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Every major label has helped on the football field with pink gear, but in the sneaker community, few projects have been as noticeable as Nike’s work with the Kay Yow Cancer Foundation. Yow was one of college basketball’s most successful coaches ever when she left her position at South Carolina in 2009, diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time (She coached Team USA to gold in 1988 following her first diagnosis). More importantly, she had an amazing spirit and spent most of her life helping those who also fought cancer.

Just before her passing, Nike unveiled the “Think Pink” series of basketball gear and became very active in promoting finding a cure. Since then, we’ve seen a litany of support from the Swoosh for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund in the form of charity-benefiting shoe sales. As sneakerheads, we’ve supported the pink-wearing wonders since their inception, and even find ourselves yearning for more kicks to cop to help end cancer. With hoops season on the horizon and many of us waiting for yet another “Think Pink” sneaker, we’ve formed this list of sneaks we’d love to see get the charitable treatment.

We’ve seen the Hyperdunk line, as well as the Hyperize, get the “Kay Yow” treatment numerous times, but the original Zoom Hyperfuse never received it. With the new generation well into its lifespan, it’d be great to see this offered this one to Hyperfuse hoopers.
