  • How to Clean & Repair Shoe Soles

Just want to buy a pair of How to Clean & Repair Shoe Soles right now? How to Clean & Repair Shoe Soles.

As sneakerheads, we are not only excited to learn about fresh releases but we always anticipate about new collaboration projects and special sneaker events. Keeping an eye on new releases is not the only thing a sneakerhead should do, we need to know how to clean and repair shoe soles.

You own dozens pairs of sneakers – the collection started a decade ago – how then did you care for those shoes? If you are a true sneaker person, you know well how to keep your shoe soles clean and that shows how you preserve your collection to date.

Since shoes are an expensive investment, it’s important to learn how to take care of your sneakers so that hey would last long. There are factors and elements that make shoe soles prone to wear and tear but the following tips will guide you on how to clean and repair shoe soles in easy and convenient way.

    1. If you are living in a humid area or where it rains half-time of the year, you must have Topy’s or Vibram’s on your leather-soled shoes. Wearing leather-soled shoes in the rain will wear them down in no time. Also, get a pair of Tingley overshoes for really wet days.

    2. When the original sole is torned, first mark and sand the bottom then install the protective sole followed by brushing the entire sole including the upper using natural horse hair. If you have machine brush, you can apply hard wax on the sole to make it shiny.

    3. To clean an icy sole, it is necessary to have the complete set of materials such as toothbrushes, liquid soap, cup of water, and bleaching agent (Clorox can be). Start by scrubbing the outsole using toothbrush with Clorox and leave it to dry out. Apply generous amount of liquid soap on the sole, dip the brush in the water and scrub the sole. After brushing, pour a little water and wipe with dry towel.

    4. If the sole of your shoe has begun to separate, it makes more sense to repair the shoe than to replace it. The best way to repair damaged shoe soles is with a strong adhesive. Some adhesives are designed specifically for shoes. Others are multipurpose adhesives that work on many different surfaces. Some types of glue, on the other hand, typically aren’t effective for repairing shoe soles.

    5. The most common problem for shoe soles is detachment from the shoe itself. This, however, does not mean the shoe is no longer good. Shoe soles can be fixed cheaply and quickly at home with a few simple steps.

Begin by snipping away any frayed stitching around the base of the shoe with a small nail scissor. Peel back the sole as far is it will go without resistance. Sand the inside of the sole and top of the shoe insole to remove any glue residue. Rub the surface with rubbing alcohol and a clean cloth to clean away any dust, dirt or debris. Allow the shoes to sit for 10 minutes for all alcohol to evaporate. Spread the glue around in a thin even pattern along the surface using a plastic knife. Push the sole back onto the shoe. Apply pressure from back to front to remove any air bubbles or pockets of glue. Place a C-clamp on the shoe and allow it to dry for 24 hours.
