Since the Hyperdunks were originally made for Kobe Bryant, it’s no surprise that Nike has released several player edition colorways of the shoes for the NBA’s 2008 Most Valuable Player. The latest among these colorways is the Nike Hyperdunk Kobe Bryant “Black Mamba,” which Kobe will wear in the upcoming Beijing Olympics.

The pair features a mamba snake lasering along the toe. The intricate lasering really sets these shoes apart. Release date and retail price information are currently unknown. Stay tuned for more updates.

  • Lava Shaft Nike Dunks

The Nike Dunks posted here are dubbed “Lava Shaft” by Revive Customs. You can find out more about these shoes from the Revive Customs blog linked here. The inspiration for these Nike Dunks is the interior of an active volcano. I like the notion behind these customs but the results fall a little short for serious sneaker fans.

I was left wanting more when I first saw the Lava Shaft Dunks. The middle panel features an awesome design that blends red lava with black spaces to create the illusion of a pool of molten lava. I love the lava effect but the plain white toe box and black heel leave much to be desired. I wish that Revive Customs would have used a splash effect or a streaming effect beyond the middle panel to complete the lava flow effect.

I think that Revive Customs could remedy the design imbalance on these shoes with a little work. You can check out Revive’s other work at the blog link posted above.
