Beijing Olympics Pack Air Max 1

The Beijing Olympics is due in August. Nike China has come out with a collection that commemorates and honors the Chinese athletes from past games. These sneakers will be sold only by Nike’s Chinese retailers. They will be available soon in a few months’ time. This Pack has 5 shoes. They are the Air Max 1, Dunk Trainer High, Vintage Cortez, Court Force Mid and Legend Low. The pictures follow this sequence that was named.

The Air Max 1 has many colors – brown, white, grey, silver and red. The shoe upper is white with patterns of concentric circles. The brown leather has a pattern of wood lines. The shoe’s inner lining is red, to provide the touch of luck, as required by the Chinese superstition.

The Dunk Trainer High has a white colorway. The ankle’s high cut is very colorful. It has red and yellow stripes, topped by a blue panel of gold stars. I think the message is that the shoe aims to reach for the stars with good support. The laces have specks of gold on them.

The Vintage Cortez is peppered with silver stars on its white colorway. Again, the auspicious red color is included in the shoe via the Nike swoosh.

The Court Force Mid has a white colorway but that does not limit it to being boring. Its laces are blue. The swoosh is bright red while the sole is a lighter shade of red.

The Legend Low has a white colorway but has accents in blue, yellow, and red.

I would choose the Vintage Cortez for a pair of casual sneakers because I like the silver stars.

  • Adidas Green Star in Purple

The release of the Adidas Green Star in a purple/white colorway this week shows the beauty of the brand’s appeal. Adidas and Puma are the only two major brands who can put out a shoe without bells, whistles and crazy designs and sell thousands to eager fans. The credibility of Adidas in creating affordable AND stylish sneakers makes the Adidas Green Star possible.

The Green Star features the trademark tri-stripe in white with a purple leather exterior. I have been a fan of Adidas soccer, tennis and casual shoes since I was in high school so I am in love with the Green Star style. My only problem with this Green Star is the royal purple used as the primary color. I am not a big fan of purple so I would opt for another color like a red, blue or green. I know these shoes will fly off the shelves once they reach wider release at the end of the month but I hope the Green Star comes in a better color.
