The Nike Air Trainer SC first introduced the Nike Air Trainer TW. This was designed to becomes the better version of the older Air Trainer SC because it was lighter, and had a low cut.

This Nike Air Trainer TW had a newer improved version, which was released in 1989. This series was popularized in the 1980-90s by Bo Jackson, who was the spokesperson for the Nike Air Trainer program.

At this latest release, the Nike Air Trainer TWII will be re-issued through Nike SB. This time, Supreme is in charge of designing the Air Trainer TWII in four new colors. Supreme also designed a new baseball jacket to go with the launch of this new sneaker. The jacket will be available in 3 colors; red, blue and black.

This special release is anticipated on Nov. 8. Supreme NY and LA stores will carry this. Supreme Japan stores will commence its sales of Nike Air Trainer TWII on Nov. 9.

As for the sneaker, I think the velco belt strapping across the upper is the best feature of the shoe. The other distinguishing feature is that the color of the Nike swoosh is the same as the color of the shoe upper.

  • Asics and Alife Collaboration on Gel Lite III Godzilla

The latest collaboration between Asics and New York company Alife is arriving just in time for Halloween. This specially designed Gel Lite III has the protruding eyes, sharp teeth design and stark colors that make it look like Godzilla. The Gel Lite III Godzilla comes in three colorways including a basic black/red colorway and a bright green/orange colorway shown above. If you can get past the crazy design long enough to try the shoe on, you will be pleased with the typical comfort level found in Asics running shoes.

The Asics Gel Lite III Godzilla is a gimmick shoe that is meant as a special part of your collection instead of a mainstay. It is possible to use these shoes for a greater purpose, however. You can simulate scenes from one of the dozen Godzilla movies and determine what the Japanese government did wrong in its efforts to stop Godzilla. If you encounter the unique problem of having to purchase these special versions of the Asics Gel Lite III, I would choose the black version because it is understated.

  • Nike AF1 “Kool Bob Love” Winter Styles Show Love for NYC

The “Kool Bob Love” pack is collaboration between artist Bobbito Garcia and Nike to recognize his roots in Puerto Rico and New York. These custom designs for the Nike AF1 Hi demonstrate the ability to use shoes as a canvas for artistic endeavors. All four shoes in the pack feature the same shapes and symbols around the shoe as well as premium leather uppers to withstand the harsh New York winters.

The shoe pictured above is my favorite of the pack because it is truly unique from other parts of the pack as well as other offerings by Nike. The purple/green colorway is subtle enough that these shoes won’t make you stand out for the wrong reasons. My only problem with the “Kool Bob Love” designs on the Nike AF1 Hi is the tan/brown colorway pictured below. The inspiration is clearly the standard Timberland boot that was so popular a few years ago. I was never a fan of Timberland boots and I think that the fourth design in this pack could have pushed the boundaries further for shoe design.

  • Reebok and Bodega Team Up for Special Pumps

The shoes above are the result of collaboration between Boston’s Bodega and Reebok. The market for this special set of Reebok Pumps is the jet setting sneaker fan who wants something to stand apart. As you can see, there is a map which has the route from New York to Boston for all of you Northeasterners who need to find a bus route out of town. This limited edition design will be limited to 100 pairs and these will be a hot ticket when they hit the stores.

I would love to see the Reebok Pumps with other routes throughout the United States. Bodega naturally wants to cater to the people in their community who don’t care how to get from Chicago to St. Louis. Reebok should look into partnering with sneaker shops around the country and create a road warrior pack for every region.

In fact, Reebok could take a page from New Balance and allow customization on the go. Pump fans could place a GPS system on the inside of the tongue to know where they are constantly. This suggestion is a joke, of course, and there is something interesting about purchasing these Pumps through Bodega. As a creature of the Midwest, a map covering the Boston to New York route may encourage may to stray away from the familiar. These ventures depend entirely on my bank account and whether these shoes will even be available by the time I make my move.
