  • Custom Nike Air Max Stats That Would Make Prince Proud

This pair of Nike Air Max Stats leaves the original version of these basketball shoes in the dust. The Air Max Stat is the signature shoe of Phoenix forward Amare Stoudemire but the simple high top with black/white accents does not befit a player of his stature. The custom Air Stats pictured above offer a flashy royal purple/orange that would fit well with the Phoenix Suns’ color scheme.

The NBA and other professional leagues are only interested in the flash of players, not the flash of the apparel. These shoes would not get past the puritanical censors that watch for baggy shorts, non-sanctioned socks and other NBA fashion faux pas. The promise of a player like Stoudemire lifting off from the middle of the lane to dunk over Dirk Nowitzki in these shoes will have to stay in the mind of custom shoe lovers. If nothing else, Prince could use these custom Nike Air Max Stats if he ever plays “Purple Rain” at the NBA All Star Weekend.

    Gil II Zero

Leave it to Gilbert Arenas to come up with a brilliant marketing idea. Arenas, who has a amazingly popular blog on NBA.com, is coming out with 20 different versions of his Adidas Gil II Zero kicks.

Most of these will be limited edition shoes and all of them will have their own story. Check out his blog for more information on each shoe and the corresponding release dates. The shoe in the above picture is just one of the 20 different versions that will be released.

With the black, gold and clear plastic, these kicks are hot. Adidas is going out on a limb with Arenas’ idea but this could be a smashing hit for the upcoming year. If it works for Adidas and Arenas, this would be great news for sneakerheads because it could mean multiple releases for each player shoe in the future.

Adidas Team Signature - Tim Duncan

Fresh off of NBA championship number four, Tim Duncan is getting some hot new kicks from Adidas that will be dropping sometime in October. The Adidas Team Signature shoe above will the official sneakers for Duncan in the 2007-08 NBA season.

While the design isn’t overly dramatic, its simplicity is perhaps its greatest asset.Duncan’s name is spelled out inconspicuously on the side of the shoe in some white on white action.

The familiar Adidas stripes and subtle stitchings give the shoes a throwback look.Bottomline is these shoes are solid and genuine but lack flash, kind of like Tim Duncan himself.

    Starbury II

As you know, the prices of a decent set of basketball sneakers have gone through the roof. To combat that, in September 2006, Stephon Marbury released line of shoes that are affordable on any budget. For $14.98, you can have your very own quality basketball shoe that Marbury actually wears during NBA games.

This season, the Starbury II is on the market. This shoe is the latest from his collection, which is only available at Steve & Barry’s stores. The shoes come in all different colors. While the shoes are comparatively simple, they still look cooler than what you’d expect for 15 bucks.

These shoes are perfect for kids who will end up outgrowing more expensive shoes within a couple months.
