The Nike Air Max 90 Boot makes a cardinal mistake for any make of shoe: it tries to blend two things together that are incompatible. The high top style that Nike is dubbing a “boot” is clearly homage to their old school basketball shoes. The colorways are flagrantly bright but the green/black and the blue/gray/black are clearly an attempt to get sneaker fans on board with the Nike Air Max 90 Boot as part of their All Conditions Gear (ACG) imprint.

The sneaker owner makes the shoe and not the other way around. The Nike Air Max 90 Boot is a decent shoe but you should look at two pairs of shoes if you plan a morning pick up game and an afternoon hike in the forest. I cannot imagine that these shoes would stand up to the endurance test involved with both of these activities. If you just want something that looks cool for a trip down the street, I would still recommend another Nike make if only to convince Phil Knight’s disciples to give hybrid shoe makes a rest.
