Style is serious business. And creating it requires nothing short of genius. Let the genius creator of styledefined.blogspot.com speak for herself.

“I started Style Defined because everyone was saying at the time that London had better street fashion than New York City. NYC had gotten too rich and cared too much about labels. I knew the people who said that were wrong and prove it by showing those who have their own sense of style that has nothing to do with money and everything to do with creativity. Since so much creativitiy happens in clubs I try to switch out between shooting on the streets and in the clubs and now we’ve added interviews of emerging designers and artists. We’re going to publish a magazine this July that show some of the best street style photos and some of the club shots that didn’t make it to the blog as well.”

The current first-round matchup in the 2009 Clash of the Customizers is between KustomKid and QustomQueen. KustomKid’s entry in the contest is the Thor Air Force Ones, based on the long-time Marvel Comics character. You can see additional photos and look at other first-round contests by looking at the Clash of the Customizers website linked here.

KustomKid used the modern incarnation of Thor as the inspiration for these custom AF1s. The redwood pattern on the Nike swoosh is based on the handle of Thor’s famed hammer. KustomKid recreated the character’s metallic body suit on the heel wraps and toes, showing a good eye for design as well as a skilled hand. The toe boxes and middle panels are painted red to match Thor’s cape.

The designer went the extra mile with the Thor Air Force Ones by customizing the insoles. The left insole features the familiar Marvel Comics logo in large lettering while the right insole shows Thor in action. You will see QustomQueen’s entry in the Clash of the Customizers tomorrow View More Photos/Info
